The Opening Ceremony of the European University Handball
Championship – Podgorica 2023 place on 8th July in Podgorica at Sports
and Cultural centre of the University of Montenegro.

The Ceremony was attended by Milan Zvan, EUSA EC member, Matijaz Pecovnik,
Secretary general of EUSA, Vasilije Lalosevic, Minister of Sports and
Youth in Government of Montenegro, Zoran Medenica, president od
Students Sports Association of Montenegro, Petar Kapisoda, President
of Handball Federation of Montenegro, Paivi Mitrunen, EUSA Tehnical
delegate and members of European Handball Federation Hall of Fame –
Katarina Bulatovic, Bojana Popovic and Maja Savic.

The championship was officially opened by the Minister of Sports and
Youth, Vasilije Lalosevic, who wished all the teams a welcome to our
country and much success in the next six competitive days.
"It is a great pleasure to be here tonight, this is a beautiful
picture, 350 young people from 11 European countries are staying
in Podgorica. In the coming days, they will socialize and form a
collective spirit, present their strength and the best they have. I
wish all the teams much success in this competition", said
Lalosevic.

EUSA Executive Committee representative Milan Zvan welcomed all
participants and wished all the teams and participants who came to test
their skills and abilities well ahead of the start of the competition, while
also thanking the Organising Committee for all their contributions.
The competition is organised by Students Sports Association of
Montenegro and University of Montenegro. Student sports in Montenegro
have been constantly improving, changing and getting better in the past
decade. In in 2022, over 2200 students participated in thirteen
competitions organized by Students Sports Association of Montenegro,
that over 150 league matches were played and that we organized six
national championships. This is the sixth European University
Championship organized by the Student Sports Association of
Montenegro, and in addition, it has organized two World University
Championships.

Championship will take place from 9th to 14th July in Podgorica in Sports
center Moraca and Sports and Cultural centre of the University of
Montenegro.
